Making fire protection a 1st priority

20 May 2020 by Simon King

A1 Fire Protection has had a busy start to the year, including installing a new fire alarm system and emergency lighting on behalf of 1st Asset, a boutique property agent near Sloane Square.

They sell and rent luxurious real estate on behalf of private clients in Chelsea, Mayfair, Knightsbridge, Belgravia, and Kensington.

This project was at a property called Haygarth House, London.

As well as installing the fire alarm system, we also upgraded their electrical intake cupboards and the doors to “FD 30” standard. This stands for “fire door 30”, referring to the number of minutes that a door is designed to contain a fire and prevent it spreading. This potentially makes escape routes safe and reduces damage to your building before the emergency services arrive to deal with a fire.

We have carried out a number of five-yearly Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) inspections for 1st Asset on various properties across London. We have built a strong relationship with them after they took over the management of a block of apartments where we were the fire safety advisers.

At A1 Fire Protection, our motto is Protecting Life and Property, whether that is in a commercial or residential setting. While many properties are run by off-site agents such as 1st Asset, we also serve others which have on-site management – such as restaurants, offices and hotels – whose roles include responsibility for fire safety.

If you are an owner, employer, landlord or occupier of business or other non-domestic premises, you are deemed to be a “responsible person” who needs to have a fire risk assessment. We can help you not only with assessing what you need, but also by installing all the equipment you require, from fire alarms and fire extinguishers to fire blankets, signage, emergency lighting and fire doors.

We can also provide your named responsible person or designated fire warden with training about what to do if a fire breaks out.

All our fire equipment installation engineers are trained and approved by the British Fire Consortium and all our electricians are trained and approved by NAPIT, which promotes excellence in the building services trades, giving you peace of mind that work is carried out in a correct and safe manner.
